The Site - Access Web Services and Group - Access Group Homepage permissions were removed in this release.
Permissions can be granted to site-wide and group roles to control access to each area of the community.
This document describes what each permission, if granted to a role, allows anyone in that role to do. Permissions are grouped into six categories:
Site
To assign these permissions, navigate to Control Panel Dashboard > System Administration > Membership Administration > Members and Roles > Manage Site Roles > [role name].

Site - Feature Content | Site_FeatureContent | Flag a blog post, forum post, media gallery file, or wiki page as featured content displayed in the Featured Content widget, typically on the main home page and on group home pages. |
Site - Hide Ads | Site_HideAds | Not see advertisements. If not granted, that user can see advertisements and manage advertisement settings. |
Site - Impersonate Users | Site_ImpersonateUser | Impersonate another user both through the site and through Web Services as if they were logged in as that user. We recommend that you be very careful who you grant this permission to - it's typically limited to only the Administrators role. |
Site - Manage Content | Site_ManageContent | Manage site articles. |
Site - Manage Content Pages | Site_ManageCustomPage | Allows a user to add, edit, and delete custom pages within the context of a site. |
Site - Manage Membership | Site_ManageMembership | Create users, modify user settings, delete users, and start conversations with any user regardless of whether they're a friend or not. |
Site - Manage Settings | Site_ManageSettings | Manage configuration and application settings across the entire site. |
Site - Moderate all Content | Site_ModerateUserContent | Delete user files, folders, and status messages. |
Site - Customize Dashboard | Site_ModifyDashboard | Customize only her/his own Dashboard page, which is the first page users see when they log into the community. As an administrator, you can grant this permission to the Registered User role to allow all your community members to customize their Dashboard. You can also control the widgets available to users to include on this page. |
Site - Edit Site Theme | Site_ModifyTheme | Modify theme pages, import/export theme configuration, and view disabled widgets. Typically only granted to the Administrators and group Owners roles. |
Site - Override Validation | Site_OverrideValidation | Upload files that are larger than maximum allowed size or of restricted file type. |
Site - Read Profiles | Site_ReadProfiles |
In release 5.6, this permission started only being shown when editing the permissions of the Everyone role. Search and view user profile information. This permission only has effect on the "Everyone" role. |
Site - View Post Metadata | Site_ViewPostMetadata | View additional post information, such as post points and posting user's IP address. |
Site - View Reports | Site_ViewReports | View reports. |
Group
To assign these permissions, navigate to Control Panel Dashboard > System Administration > Group Administration > Groups > [group name] > Edit > Permissions.

Group - Access Control Panel | Group_ControlPanel | Access the areas of the Control Panel required to administer group settings, including some areas required for managing individual applications. |

Group - Create New Forums | Group_CreateForum | Create new forum applications and access to the forum administration panel on the Control Panel Dashboard. |
Group - Create New Groups | Group_CreateGroup | Create new groups and access to the group administration panel on the Control Panel Dashboard. Used in conjunction with "Group_ModifyGroup" to move a group from one parent to another. |
Group - Create New Media Galleries | Group_CreateMediaGallery | Create new media gallery applications and access to the media gallery administration panel on the Control Panel Dashboard. |
Group - Create New Wikis | Group_CreateWiki | Create new wiki applications and access to the wiki administration panel on the Control Panel Dashboard. |
Group - Delete Blogs | Group_DeleteBlog | Delete blog applications. |
Group - Delete Forums | Group_DeleteForum | Delete forum applications. |
Group - Delete Groups | Group_DeleteGroup | Delete groups. |
Group - Delete Media Galleries | Group_DeleteMediaGallery | Delete media gallery applications. |
Group - Delete Wikis | Group_DeleteWiki | Delete wiki applications. |
Group - View Group Names in Lists | Group_DiscoverGroup | View group names in lists and search queries, regardless of membership. Important for allowing users to "discover" closed or private-listed groups. |
Group - Edit theme | Group_EditTheme | Modify theme pages, import/export theme configuration, and change the theme for a group |
Group - Join Groups | Group_JoinGroup | Join a group without Owner or Manager approval. |
Group - Request to Join Groups | Group_JoinGroupByRequest | Request membership to a group, with Owner or Manager approval. |
Group - Manage Custom Pages | Group_ManageCustomPage | Allows a user to add, edit, and delete custom pages within the context of a group. |
Group - Edit Group Settings |
Group_ModifyGroup | Manage group settings, applications, and activity messages. Grants access to poll voting report. Used in conjunction with "Group - Create New Groups" to move a group from one parent to another. Having this permission at the root level also grants ability to create joinless groups. |
Group - Edit Membership | Group_ModifyMembership | Manage group membership (add, delete, accept, reject, and invite members). |
Group - View Group Members | Group_ViewMembership | View a group's list of members. |
Group Calendar
The following group-level permissions are present only if you have Telligent Event Calendar installed. Note that these permissions apply to all calendars in the group and can't be granted for specific calendars.
